To Whom it May Concern

From 1997 to around 2011 or ‘12, Richard Samuelson and I collaborated on hundreds of these gag cartoons. They appeared in a number of magazines, including the Saturday Evening Post and the Funny Times. The strip was briefly syndicated and appeared regularly in the Cape May County Herald newspaper. Richard and I would get together weekly, usually at his kitchen table, and go over the week’s offerings. Richard would present me with maybe 13 or 14 gags and we would whittle them down to the seven I would make rough drafts of and show him the following week. We disagreed a lot; it was a lot of fun. Richard is an artist, himself, and the only person I know who can speak about drawing on a very deep yet practical level. At first you think he’s crazy, until you realize that what he is saying makes a lot of sense; you just had never heard it put into words before.
