TRUE GHOSTS
I had bought this brick of a book, Ghosts, by the original ghost hunter, Hans Holzer, at the mall. At twenty dollars it seemed worth its weight, but after reading about one true-ish ghostly encounter after another, I felt that the stories were similar and stiff. Not wanting my purchase to have been in vain I started to play a dada-esque game of chance with it. Arriving, by rolls of the dice, at a certain liine at a certain page, I used what I found for the text of a comic frame, then, continuing the process, in that way built a strip. This worked for a while, but soon I started hunting down the lines I wanted to use, and then branched out to filching lines from other sources. Eventually I just made stuff up, and much of the game’s randomness was gone.
